West Scott Ball Field

The City of Beatrice Public Properties is supporting many projects and activities this summer.

Some of the many activities include:

  • Come cool off at the Big Blue Water Park, which is officially open for the season.
  • Enjoy some cooling off at the Sertoma Astro Park Splash pad.
  • Watch some great baseball and softball at the 11 diamonds at the Scott Street and Hannibal Park ball fields.  Tournaments are being held almost every weekend in June along with weeknight leagues.
  • Take a hike along the hiking and biking trails that wrap almost all of the way around Beatrice.  There is a new loop called the Pioneer Trail from the Big Blue Water Park east to the Beatrice High School, then north to Hannibal Park.  If your goal is to adventure even further you can head either north to Cortland or south along the Chief Standing Bear Trail for 18 additional miles of sights and sounds out in the wilderness.

Improvement projects for the summer:

  • Adding a bathroom facility, parking lot, and additional lighting at the Chief Standing Bear Trailhead Park located near 6th and Perkins street.
  • Finishing up Hannibal Park ball field improvements.
  • Renovating the Chautauqua Park Tennis courts into Pickle Ball courts.  Pickle Ball is a fairly new paddle sport that combines elements of Badminton, Table Tennis and Tennis.  Two or five players use solid paddles to hit a perforated polymer ball much like a Whiffle Ball over the net
