The Beatrice Area Solid Waste Agency (BASWA) operates the Landfill under permit #0055158, accepting municipal waste.  Non-hazardous, special wastes are accepted, subject to approval from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) and BASWA.  


The Landfill is located at 3426 West Locust Road, 2 miles South on Hwy 77 and 1 mile West. 


Hours of operation are: Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and the first Saturday of every month, 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  For information regarding fees, see Facility Fees.


When bringing items to the Landfill, please have the following items separated from the load: 

  • Yardwaste, brush, and limbs;
  • Batteries;
  • Chemical containers;
  • Paints and solvents;
  • White goods; and
  • Tires.

Items that are prohibited from disposal at the Landfill are as follows:

  • Uncovered loads;
  • Hazardous waste;
  • Flammables, explosives, or corrosive items;
  • Radioactive waste
  • Infectious waste;
  • Sewer and septic sludges; and
  • Liquids.

Construction and Demolition (C & D) Landfill


The City of Beatrice recently added to the current Landfill and created the Construction and Demolition (C & D) Landfill.


Beginning April 1, 2014, any wood waste over 40" in diameter and longer than 8' will be charged $8.00/c.y. and placed in the Construction and Demolition Landfill.  All other brush will remain free of charge to be placed at the Landfill.


Items that are prohibited from disposal at the C & D Landfill are as follows:

  • Municipal solid waste and industrial solid waste, as defined by the NDEQ Title 132;
  • Hazardous wastes, as defined by 40 CFR 261 or the NDEQ Title 128;
  • Wastes containing PCB, as regulated by CFR 761.60, the Toxic Standards Control Act (TSCA) or the NDEQ Title 128;
  • Friable asbestos-containing materials, as defined by the NDEQ Title 132;
  • Special waste;
  • Liquid waste, as defined by the NDEQ Title 132;
  • Putrescible waste, as defined by the NDEQ Title 132;
  • Corrugated cardboard;
  • Discarded household appliances, as defined by the NDEQ Title 132;
  • Waste tires according to NDEQ requirements;
  • Drums;
  • Fuel tanks; and
  • Other materials banned at the Landfill.
