       Beatrice Fire & Rescue protects approx. 13,000 citizens within the city limits of Beatrice, which is approx. 8 square miles in area. The department also helps protect an additional 12,000 citizens within the Beatrice Rural Fire District which covers an area of approx. 200 square miles. We house the Rural Fire District’s fire apparatus and respond to fire and rescue calls within this rural area and are complimented by the rural volunteers which number approx. 70 members. Our department also is involved with a mutual aid agreement which means, when called upon for assistance, we could respond anywhere within a 1,200 square mile area of Gage, Jefferson and portions of Saline counties in Southeast Nebraska. We also operate a countywide ambulance service that covers a 600 square miles rescue district. Our department is a combination department with full-time paid members complemented by paid-on-call reserves. We have an ISO (Insurance Services Office) rating of "3".
