Beatrice Fire & Rescue is a
full-time paid municipal fire department which includes: A fire
chief, fire inspector, administrative secretary and 21 paid
shift personnel. We also maintain between 8
-12
firefighter/EMT paid reserves who supplement the full-time
members during emergencies.
We operate with three shifts; each
comprised of a shift Captain, apparatus driver, and five (5)
firefighter-EMT/Paramedics. Presently, we have nine (9)
certified Paramedics, with all other members EMT-B certified.
Each shift is on-duty 24 hours and
off-duty 48 hours, averaging a 56-hour work week.
Besides fire protection,
prevention and public education, Beatrice Fire & Rescue provides
the following services:
- County-wide basic and advanced life
support ambulance service
- Regional Hazardous Material incident
response (all full-time members are trained and certified as
Haz-Mat technicians)
- Confined-space, high-angle and water
rescue
