Some of the duties performed by the department are street sweeping, blading of gravel roads, sign installation and maintenance, painting of pavement markings, mowing, traffic control (barricading), street repairs & maintenance such as patching and crack sealing asphalt streets, tree removal on street right of way, culvert installation and storm sewer maintenance, snow removal and ice control, drainage structure repair, etc.
